Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab
Paris - MENA

Chairman of the French side of a joint presidential council with Egypt, Patrick Lucas, has said that his country is keen on increasing investments with Egypt.

Egypt's Prime Minister Ibrahim, currently visiting here, already met with representatives of French companies interested in putting their money into projects in Egypt, Lucas said, believing this reflects deep rooted relations between the two countries.

The meeting was held at the HQ of the Sustainable Development Commission of the French business association (MEDEF) earlier Wednesday.

The meeting was a good chance to respond to questions French companies have about the business climate in Egypt and incentive measures to lure foreign investments, he told MENA following the talks.

Lucas reiterated statements by Mahlab in which he stressed that Egypt was witnessing a state of mobility and was counting on France to establish a number of development projects in the Arab country.

Egypt is a big country of large potentials, Lucas said, adding that a delegation of giant French companies will be visiting Egypt in June for further talks on technical specifics.

The Egyptian side has shown willingness to remove all obstacles hindering the flow of foreign investments to the country, Lucas told MENA.

French companies are particularly interested in projects that have to do with transport, logistics and new and renewable energy, he noted.

Mahlab has invited French companies to visit the New Suez Canal to get firsthand information about promising projects there, Lucas said.

The Egyptian-French presidential council for business has invited French companies to use investment opportunities now available in Egypt, Lucas said, adding that the council is keen on increasing French investments in Egypt as much as possible.
