Finance ministers of the 19-member Eurozone began a meeting here Monday afternoon to discuss the next steps of the Greece's bailout extension programme.
"As you know, we have said that we will support Greece further if they are on the reform path. I think that the talks about the programme and the reforms that are needed should restart quickly, we are losing to much time," Jeroen Dijsselbloem, president of the eurozone, told reporters ahead of the meeting.
"We have to start very, very soon, we have lost over two weeks, very little progress has been made talks. That is my main message today," he said and added that "we should work together to make sure that Greece has a strong future inside the Eurozone and that is my goal." On his part, German finance minister Wolfgang Schauble said "I don't think there's much new on Greece, we decided on a clarification during our last meeting, not much has been done since, now it is a matter for the Troika (the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund).
"Greece has to implement now what it has committed to and to refrain from unilateral changes that do not agree with the Troika," he added.
Pierre Mosocovici, European Commissioner for economic and financial affairs said "we expect a constructive and positive discussion today, a clear commitment. The Greek government should present its reforms and say how they are going to make it happen." Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis "needs to tells us what are his intentions with precision. We will have a political discussion but it is important that the Greek government is precise on its measures," he added.
