
The Commander of the United Nations Interim Security Forces for Abyei (UNISFA) received Tuesday in Khartoum the co-Chairman of the General Supervisory Committee for Abyei, Engineer Hassan Omer Nimir, in the presence of members of the committee for the area.
In a statement to SUNA, Nimir pointed out that the meeting tackled the security situation in Abyei and implementation of the agreement on the administrative and security arrangements for Abyei, signed in June 20, 2011 in Addis Ababa.
He affirmed the importance of reactivating work of the Abyei Joint Committee for completing its institutions so as to play its role, assuring his full commitment to cooperate with the international forces toward achieving peace in the region, pointing to the stability of the security situation in the region.
The meeting tackled the current situation on the ground and means of surpassing obstacles and moving ahead for serious and successful implementation of the agreement.
