
Chinese Enterprises Association in Myanmar and two copper mining companies on Friday donated a total of 40,000 U.S. dollars' worth of emergency relief aid to flood victims in Myanmar's northwestern Sagaing Region.
The relief aid includes rice and oil for 4,617 households from 32 villages in Monywa.
"The cooperation between the Chinese enterprises and regional government will help overcome the disaster quickly," said Wu Mingyuan, vice chairman of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, two groups from Chinese Blue Sky Rescue Team are carrying out rescue operations in some flood-hit regions including Rakhine state, one of four declared disaster zones.
The Chinese flood relief mission, led by Ambassador Hong Liang, has donated relief aid worth 300,000 U.S. dollars totally to flood areas of Sagaing and Magway regions as well as Rakhine State.
On Aug. 7, provincial government of China's Yunnan handed over additional relief aid worth 2.41 million yuan (395,081 U.S. dollars) to the Myanmar side in Mandalay.
According to updated figure of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, nationwide death toll from the severe flooding in the country rose to more than 106 so far with Rakhine state suffering most casualties, affecting more than 1.3 million people across the country.
