Ismailia - MENA

The world's largest container ship transited the Suez Canal with a cargo of 200,000 tons, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said Saturday.
Danish four-hundred meters long, 59 meters wide "Maersk Mckinny Moller" loaded with nearly 18,275 containers transited the Egyptian waterway, on its way to Spain from Malaysia, Mamish added.
The canal was witnessing a remarkable increase in ship transit, as 118 ships transited the waterway on Friday and Saturday, carrying a total cargo of 6.8 million tons.
Meantime, Mamish said on Saturday that the New Suez Canal development project would be inheritance of the upcoming generations.
The official made the remarks while receiving a delegation visiting the project site, including head of the Independent Current Ahmad El Fadaly along with a group of politicians, athletes and artists.
