First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, stressed that the Bahrain Olympic Committee is clearly exerting efforts in achieving the development plan set by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, to promote the Youth and Sports sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness said that the Olympic Committee under the presidency of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad is working to develop mechanisms and programmes to support the work of national associations and push them to achieve the highest levels of success by raising the technical levels for sport, which reflects on development of clubs to form national team capable of participating with honour and achieve outstanding results in various participations.
This came when His Highness received Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, at the office of His Highness in Riffa. His Highness reviewed the Kingdom of Bahrain's achievements for the year 2016 and 2017 during the meeting. The most recent was the gold medal by the National team, Fajer Al Binali in the World Taekwondo Federation Championship Cup. His Highness congratulated Bahrain Self-Defence Federation headed by president Eng. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, the Federation's Council Board, Fajer Al Bin Ali, the technical and administrative members.
His Highness praised the outstanding efforts of the Bahrain Olympic Committee to develop the culture of sports in society and their constant efforts to implant the importance of sports, especially among the youth, and its prominent role in launching scientific initiatives aimed at progressing the scientific and academic role in developing the youth and sports movement. He added that these efforts culminated in the many awards received by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the most recent is the award for Award for Sports Science for the best initiative professional organization on initiative by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for scientific research in the sports field.
His Highness also reviewed the committee’s programmes for the next phase, which aims to continue the process of building and developing this vital sector and serves the goals and aspirations set by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to translate the directives of the wise leadership to continue the development of this sector.
For his part, Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, expressed his thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, praising the efforts of His Highness to sponsor and support various sport games and the Bahraini youth. He stressed that all these efforts reflect the care of His Highness to achieve the goals and development plan set by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to advance the youth and sports sector. He said that the Bahraini Mixed Martial Arts has achieved success in record time, which strengthened the Kingdom of Bahrain's position globally in this sport.
