Petrochemical Industries Company
Manama - BNA

Newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) Mohammed Abdullatif Al Farhoud was received at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) by its President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the Executive Management and Labour Union Chairman.
Dr. Jawahery praised the strong relations between the two Companies, and the on-going bilateral visits, which, he said, result in more cooperation and integration among GPIC’s shareholders.
Dr. Jawahery gave the visitor a detailed explanation on GPIC’s operations and achievements since it was set up in 1985. The PIC CEO learnt about the Company’s exports to the world’s largest markets and how it had created a niche for itself in the regional petrochemical and fertilizer industry.

GPIC’s great reputation in the global Fertiliser and Petrochemical Industry as well as its membership of local, regional and international organisations was also discussed.

Dr. Jawahery thanked his Kuwaiti counterpart and his team for sparing no effort to market GPIC-produced Ammonia and Urea to global markets and recalled similar efforts by the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), which markets Methanol.

Dr. Jawahery said such cooperation would open wider prospects for integration between the Company and its Shareholders not only in the field of investment and marketing, but also in efforts to reach their peak performance by applying the principles of knowledge among the three giant companies.

Al Farhoud spoke about the brotherly relations between the two sides and said ties have been further strengthened to the highest levels. He praised the inherent common history and stressed on the personal attention he constantly gives to search for more ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and to make the best use of the natural resources available in these countries.

He thanked Dr. Jawahery for the welcome and the hospitality and praised the young and qualified Bahrainis who had assumed various positions in the Company. He said he was very impressed with the great care GPIC gives to safety and environmental protection standards as well as the role it plays towards the society through its social responsibility initiatives.

The visitor then went around GPIC complex, which included the Academy of Leadership and Learning, as well as the different environmental projects. He saw the Palm Tree Oasis, the Charity Fish Farm, and the Medicinal Herbs Garden and planted a tree to commemorate his visit.

The PIC, along with SABIC, each have a 33.3 per cent share in GPIC, with the balance being held by the Government of Bahrain through the National Oil and Gas Authority.
