Sudan FM demands removing economic sanctions on his country

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour said that his country has taken practical steps to carry out its sustainable development plan for 2030, pressing the need for removing economic sanctions on his country and other developing countries.

Addressing the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), currently in session here, the Sudanese diplomat said his country has outlined the structural framework to carry out the development document and is currently working on including it in its national economic plans.

He highlighted the necessity of working out a comprehensive handling of Sudan's foreign debts, asserting the importance of building international partnerships to garner up financial resources and build capabilities to open up to international markets and transfer technologies to facilitate the developing countries join the World Trade Organization.

He also underlined that Sudan's development efforts would bear no fruit without achieving peace. In this regard, he reviewed the government efforts to achieve stability and peace in his country.

The Sudanese top diplomat held a series of meetings here with a number of his counterparts on the fringe of his participation at the 70th session of UNGA.
