In line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives and under the patronage of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, RCO and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) signed an agreement to build a residential complex, a school and a library in Gaza as part of the second phase of the kingdom’s support and assistance programme for the Palestinians.
RCO Secretary-General and Executive Manager of the Bahrain National Committee for the Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Gaza Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayyad and Representative of the UNRWA Commissioner-General Peter Ford signed the agreement, in the presence of the Bahrain Ambassador to Jordan Nasser bin Rashid Al-Ka’abi and the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization Ayman Al-Mufleh.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa extended sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, RCO’s Honorary President, for his kind gesture, and directives to provide urgent relief aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, which reflected the Royal firm stances to back the Palestinian cause and support the brotherly Palestinians in order to help them set up their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Shaikh Nasser praised the support allocated to RCO and the Bahrain National Committee for the Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Gaza by the government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
He paid tribute to the Bahraini people, as well as commercial and industrial institutions for their donations and contributions to RCO’s projects in Gaza.
He said that the second phase of the relief aid would focus on the reconstruction of the war-torn Gaza through building housing units, a school and a library.
He explained that the first phase, 80 tonnes of relief aid were dispatched to the Palestinians in Gaza in order to reduce their sufferings caused by the Israeli aggression.
Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayyad said that work on the projects would begin when the war stops.
He pointed out that the new projects would add to the kingdom’s development and relief projects in the health, educational and cultural fields.
Peter Ford expressed profound thanks and appreciation to the Bahraini leadership and people for their support to the Palestinians in Gaza, praising RCO’s keenness to implement sustainable development projects for the Palestinians.
He affirmed that the kingdom was among the first countries to implement such projects in many disaster-stricken people all over the world.
Bahraini Ambassador to Jordan praised HM the King’s kind gesture to build the educational complex in order to provide care for the children of the Palestinians, paying special tribute to HRH Premier and HRH Crown Prince for their constant support for humanitarian and charity work.
