
Oman’s National Innovation Strategy, which has been approved by the Council of Ministers, was reviewed on Tuesday at a meeting of The Research Council.
The meeting with the media was held at The Research Council premises. The strategy aims at creating a national system for innovation that has clear-cut vision and policy to achieve clear aims and priorities.
The strategy will be implemented through a carefully studied plan that ensures activating all links and relationships among components of the system.
Dr. Sharifa bint Hamoud Al Harthiyah, Manager of the National Innovation Strategy project made a presentation on the strategy that included an overview of the strategy, its steps and the efforts made by the different teams throughout the year by the different public, private stakeholders and NGOs.
She said that 70 experts from the different institutions of the state and more than 13 staff members of The Research Council took part at the 12-month long work. She added that the aim is to create innovation-based strategy, for the Sultanate to be among top 20 leaders in innovation by 2040 to shift from revenue-dependent economy to innovation-based economy.
