Dubai - WAM

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development is currently managing 12 vital projects, as part of its investment programme, which is distributed around several of the country’s emirates at a total cost of AED1.43 billion.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, said that the projects include five road projects that connect the country’s various regions, as well as four projects for the Ministry of Interior, two projects for the Ministry of Justice, and one project for the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.
He added that the road projects, managed by the ministry, include executing the first phase of the road connecting Sheikh Khalifa Highway in Fujairah with the Khatm Melaha Centre and E99 Road, the Hamad bin Abdullah Road project in Fujairah, the intersection of the Al Badi Bridge in Sharjah, and the second phase of the extension of the Al Emarat Suhaila - Al Shamal Road, as well as a contract to develop and improve the efficiency of Al Ittihad Road, E11, from Falaj Al Mualla Umm Al Quwain Road, E55, to Al Salam Bridge.
He added that the Ministry of Interior projects also include the second unit of the Special Security Force Command Building in Seeh Al Mahab-Al Dhaid in Sharjah, a multi-service Al Daggaga Police Centre in Ras al-Khaimah, the Citizenship and Residence Building in Umm Al Quwain and the Shamel Centre branch building of the Al Dhaid Police in Sharjah. The projects of the Ministry of Justice include the two buildings of the Khor Fakkan Court in Sharjah and the Masfout Court in Ajman. The Cultural Centre branch in Fujairah is its sole project for the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.
Dr. Al Nuaimi again mentioned that the ministry is in charge of the first phase of the road project to connect Sheikh Khalifa Highway in Fujairah with the Khatm Melaha Centre and E99 Road, with a total length of 4.4 kilometres and a total cost of AED120 million, which is expected to be finished in the third quarter of the current year. The project involves a dual road with two lanes in each direction and an island in the middle to allow the development of a future road and a third lane from the island’s edge, as well as traffic lights, a drainage system for rain water, a road lighting network and metal barriers for protection.
He also highlighted the start of the ministry’s project to develop and expand Hamad bin Abdullah Street, which is expected to be finished during the first quarter of 2020 at a total cost of AED250 million. The project, which is managed by the ministry as part of its investment programme, is considered an important project for solving the urgent need to develop the road and improve its efficiency, which includes restructuring, expanding and renewing the road, as the main artery of the Emirate of Fujairah.
He added that the project at the intersection of Al Badi Bridge, which is expected to be finished by the end of the current year at a total cost of AED200 million, comprises three parts that include building a bridge to transfer the movement of traffic of those coming from Dubai to Sharjah directly to University City via a three-lane bridge that goes only one direction. The second part is a three-lane exit road for those coming from Sharjah to Dubai. The third part is the expansion of the current bridge on the intersection between Al Emarat Street and Maliha Street from three to seven lanes, divided into five major lanes and separated with barriers from its exits, as well as two lanes for those returning.
