Mall of Qatar progress on course for Q4 launch

Mall of Qatar's mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works spread over four million square feet of built up have been installed, a key developer involved in the mega retail project said Wednesday.
Drake and Scull Engineering company Managing Director Ahmad Al Naser said, "We are delighted with the pace of progress on the Mall of Qatar, which is well on its way to meeting its Q4 2015 launch date." Our project planning and execution in coordination with the main contractors and the clients has allowed us to deliver MEP Works for over four million square feet of built up area that will house 500 shops, 80 food and beverages outlets as well as the world's largest IMAX screen, he said.
Drake and Scull Qatar (DSI Qatar), which is exhibiting at Qatar Projects 2015 Conference here, is executing a QR 400 Million MEP works contract for Mall of Qatar that will have a retail space of over two million square feet.
Reiterating it full commitment toward achieving its set targets matching Qatar National Vision 2030, the company said it is poised to play a decisive role in the growth and development of the country’s construction and infrastructure segment.
Drake and Scull International Vice Chairman and CEO Khaldoun Tabari said, "Qatar has continued its upward trajectory by successfully diversifying its economy in order to sustain its growth even during sharp drops in oil prices. Rapid expansion in the real estate sector has created an enormous demand for high-quality engineering services." The company has delivered several projects in Qatar including the Four Seasons Hotel, the Qtel Tower, and the Doha Land project.
"We are also working rapidly on the District Cooling Plant at Lusail City awarded last year," Al Naser said and added, the company is optimistic about Qatar's diversification and expanding real estate market.
