Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab conferred on Saturday with Egyptian geologist Farouk el-Baz on means of drawing on his expertise in the national major development project, called the 'golden triangle'.
The 'golden triangle' project considers linking the Red Sea port cities of Safaga and al-Qusayr along with the Upper Egypt Governorate of Qena.
El-Baz highlighted that he recently supervised on a Ph.D. thesis on making use of the national resources in the 'golden triangle' prepared by an Egyptian researcher, noting that he is fully ready to offer his expertise for the sake of the country.
During the meeting, Mahlab phoned Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, who was responsible for this national project, and arranged a meeting between him and professor el-Baz later on Saturday.
From his part, el-Baz reviewed with Mahlab a new national project to reclaim 750,000 feddans in Upper Egypt. Recent studies on Upper Egypt concluded that undergroundwater reserves could be found on a 50 meters depth.
