The Cabinet, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, approved a grant agreement of 10 million euros (around JD9.5 million) that was signed with Germany to improve water supply for Syrian refugees and host communities in the northern region.
The agreement, the sixth of its kind with Germany, aims to help Jordan's water sector to overcome challenges posed by the presence of a large number of Syrian refugees, mainly in the northern governorates.
German grants to Jordan during 2013-1014, totalling 84 million euros, were used to support and empower communities hosting Syrian refugees.
Ensour thanked Germany for its continued support to the Kingdom through technical grants and aid as well as soft loans to finance projects in vital sectors, mainly water.
