International Labor Organization
Cairo - MENA

The International Labor Organization lauded as very positive the Egyptian presidential program to qualify youths for leadership.

Interviewed by MENA, Peter Van Rooij, Director of the Decent Work Team for North Africa, and ILO Country office for Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan and South Sudan, said the initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi came at the right time, highlighting the necessity of effective coordination among government and private-sector bodies to render the youth-oriented project a success.

Rooij also commended the trend to assist young men to start their own businesses, noting that 90 percent of manpower around the world works in the private sector.

As for the role of the ILO in Egypt, Rooij said his office encourages businesses in 168 member states, based on four axes; creating job opportunities, providing social protection, encouraging social dialogue and urging the parties concerned to adopt international labor standards.
