Algerian Red Crescent sends first batch of humanitarian aid to Gazans

First batch of humanitarian aid was sent Thursday by the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) to the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.
Three Algerian military planes, carrying 75 tonnes of medicines and 50 wheelchairs, left Thursday the airport of Boufarik for Ismailia in Egypt, where the aid will be transported to Gaza by road, said the head of the CRA, Saida Benhabyles told a press conference.
With this action, Algeria reiterates, through the CRA, its "unfailing" solidarity with the Palestinian people as well as its commitment to the defence of human rights, she said.
Benhabyles also hailed the wave of solidarity of Algerians in collecting the aid, underlining that 40 tonnes of medicines have been collected owing thanks to the mobilization of young people, in addition to the partners of the CRA, including the National Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) and the General Union of Algerian Traders and Artisans (UGCAA).
