Primrose
Los Angeles - Arab Today

Literary debutant Laura Chowns exquisitely captures and portrays the intricacies of romance and real love in her recently released romance fiction "Primrose" (published by Xlibris). Set against the backdrop of Second World War England, the novel not only puts into focus the values and exactitudes that distinguish the era but also highlights the effects of war on the lives of the people.
Falling in love is supposed to be wonderful and magical, but for Lux and Gray, it is s also a nightmare filled with strict parents, steep punishments and no hope of a 'happily ever after.' As the middle daughter of a police chief and a Sunday school teacher, Lux Belanger grew up behind the shadows of her parents' whims. That is, until she meets Gray Eastlake, a carefree soul who eventually teaches her how to live and love. Lux becomes pregnant and marriage is the only solution to rectify their mistakes. But their happiness is short-lived when Gray is drafted into the army. He must leave behind his new wife and unborn child with the possibility of never returning. Some years later, the war ends and Lux has accepted that her husband will not be coming home. Yet when a mysterious stranger with no memory of who he is and who looks oddly like her dead husband enters her life, the past is stirred once again to haunt her in the present. Blinded by denial and acceptance of Gray’s death, Lux struggles to see the truth behind the reality they are living in.
Poignant, mystifying and evocative, "Primrose" digs into the core of the soul to reveal a one-of-a-kind story of love lost and reborn. It exemplifies the enduring force of love against the odds of life.
"I'd like for readers to feel good after knowing Gray and Lux's story," shares Chowns. "To maybe realize that while life can get rough at times, it always moves on and there's always something to keep living for."
