Sharjah - WAM

Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, opened yesterday in Madrid an archaeological exhibition organised by the department in conjunction with the Autonomous University of Madrid, UAM, in the National Archaeological Museum of Spain, in the presence of Dr. Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammed Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information, a number of dignitaries, ambassadors of Arab countries in Spain and Spanish media representatives, along with attendees who are interested in archeology.

The exhibition includes a number of important original artifacts that have been discovered over the past years in various archaeological sites in the Emirate of Sharjah, including artifacts discovered by a Spanish archaeological mission.

The opening of the exhibition comes on the 20th anniversary of cooperation between Sharjah and the Spanish archaeological mission.

Dr. Al Otaiba expressed her happiness at the opening of this exhibition, which, she said, reflects the authenticity of the Emirate of Sharjah and its civilization that stretches back to the stone age. She extended thanks to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his great efforts in various cultural fields and his continued support for culture, both morally and materially, as well as his keen interest in communicating with people around the world, strengthening cultural ties between them.
