Strong earthquake hits off eastern Indonesia

An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude has been detected off the eastern Indonesian island of Sulawesi. There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 119 kilometers (74 miles) northeast of Luwuk, in Central Sulawesi province, at a depth of 18.5 kilometers (11.5 miles).
