As part of ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Masdar company in the sisterly United Arab Emirates in the area of electric power production by harnessing modern solar power technologies; the Special Advisor of HM the King cum President of the Supreme Council for the Environment, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, conducted talks at his place of residence here yesterday evening with HE Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Jabir the UAE's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs cum Special Envoy for Energy and Climate Change of Masdar regarding preliminary study conducted by the company pertaining to possibility of establishing renewable energy plants in the south of the Kingdom of Bahrain. HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa was briefed by Dr. Sultan Al-Jabir regarding latest developments of Masdar's study pertaining to possibility of establishing power plants in the south of the Kingdom and in Hiwar Islands for the production of renewable electric energy in the Kingdom. HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed the visit of Masdar company to the Kingdom of Bahrain and expressed readiness to provide all facilitations to the company in order to implement the second phase of this project and to conduct a detailed feasibility study pertaining to establishing at least two electric power plants and the signing of an agreement for the second phase of the project in order to promptly begin the establishing of these electric power plants. At the conclusion of the meeting, HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Personal Advisor of HM the King cum President of the Supreme Council for the Environment thanked Dr. Sultan Al-Jabir the CEO of Masdar company for cooperation and interest shown by the company to implement this important project in the Kingdom of Bahrain, pointing out that the project of establishing electric power plants by harnessing solar energy to produce large capacity of electric power in the Kingdom is considered an important pioneering step to provide environmentally-friendly electric power commensurate with the Kingdom of Bahrain's strategy for cooperation and contribution of the international community vis-à-vis the issues of global climate change and to reduce gas emissions.
