Weather forecasters Tuesday told central Florida residents to be alert for more strong storms like the ones that caused overnight damage in Volusia County. About 40 homes in the southeast corner of Volusia County were damaged Monday when a presumed tornado hit a modular-home community. The National Weather Service did not immediately declare the storm to be a tornado, but the Orlando Sentinel said residents described hearing the tell-tale "freight train" sound, and readers turned over photos of funnel clouds in the area. No injuries were reported, but at least 10 homes in the storm's path suffered significant damage. Trees and power lines were also reported down. The National Weather Service warned areas east of Orlando could expect severe weather Tuesday afternoon, including the possibility of isolated tornadoes.
