Diving team of the Environmental Voluntary Foundation announced on Tuesday installment of six new sea buoys eastern Arifjan corals -- at depths ranging between 11 and 16 meters. The project officer, Faisal Al-Harban, said in a statement on Tuesday that this work comes within the efforts of the diving team to protect the coral reefs in Kuwait and to prevent throwing boat anchors that break the corals. Many sailors are trying to use these buoys, he said. There are some 70 buoys placed at sea locations to the national coral islands. Arifjan coral reefs are the closest to the Kuwait coast, with plenty of fishes and marine organisms. He also called for intensified efforts to protect coral reefs from destruction and overfishing.
