Oslo - XINHUA
More and more Norwegians are concerned about climate change, with young people in Norway more inclined to do something themselves to reduce greenhouse emissions, according a study report published on Tuesday. Up from 18 percent in 2013, 28 percent of those surveyed this year believe that climate change is an important issue for Norway, according to the TNS Gallup Climate Barometer 2014 report. "The changes we are seeing this year is the most significant since we began our survey," Eva Fosby Livgard, manager of TNS Gallup, was quoted as saying to the Norwegian-language newspaper Dagsavisen. The study also shows that people in the 18 to 30 age group believe that climate change is the third most important challenge facing Norway. Three years ago, climate change occupied the eleventh place in a similar ranking. "Young people are more concerned about climate change than other age groups. They are also more willing than others to do something themselves to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Livgard. In addition, young people demand politicians do more to slow down the pace of and to alleviate the impact of climate change, she added.
