Heavy rainfall bypasses Beijing, floods Tianjin

Downpour bypassed Beijing late Wednesday but hit the neighboring city of Tianjin in China, flooding many downtown streets and vehicles. According to Chinese news agency (Xihnua), Tianjin received an average rainfall of 147 mm which congested traffic. Dozens of vehicles were stranded after their engines died in the flood. Railway transportation, however, was largely unaffected, including the express rail link to Beijing.
