Beijing - Xinhua
Amid fresh warnings of climate-related disasters, delegates from about 190 countries are gathering in Durban, South Africa for a two-week conference. Participants hope to break the deadlock on how to curb emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. "Saving tomorrow today." that’s the theme at the Durban Climate Talks. As the world hears the clock tick down, organizers are standing firmly behind their commitments to reach a deal. Christiana Figueres, UNFCCC Executive Secretary, said, "Well, I must say, if anybody talks about low expectations for Durban, that’s because they don’t understand the complexities of what stands before governments. This is nothing short of the most compelling energy, industrial, behavioural revolution that humanity has ever seen."
