Southern California was shaken early Friday by a 3.5-magnitude earthquake centered in the Beverly Hills area, officials said. No damage was reported. The quake occurred at 3 minutes after midnight and shook much of southern California, including downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. The U.S. Geological Survey said the epicenter was 1 mile from Century City, 2 miles from West Hollywood, 9 miles from Longwood and 9 miles from the Los Angeles Civic Center. The shaker was a "sharp jolt' followed by a slow roll, said Todd Withers, a Beverly Hills Police Department watch commander. Beverly Hills was hit on Monday by a 3.2-magnitude earthquake, also with no damage.
