The epicenter was about 35 miles (57 kilometers) south of Wellington, New Zealand, the USGS said. The quake struck at a depth of 6.3 miles (10.1 kilometers). No tsunami warning was issued, according to a report of CNN. The quake was the latest in a series of tremors that have jolted New Zealand's Lower North Island in the past few days.
