Police confiscated an average of 120 vehicles per month in the Eastern
Dubai - Arab today

Police in the eastern region of Sharjah are cracking down on dangerous stunt drivers, and are seizing their vehicles in the process.

In the first three months of 2017, Sharjah Police said they have already confiscated 368 vehicles for reckless driving. This indicates that an average of 120 cars every month break traffic rules.

The majority of the dangerous motorists were caught racing on the main roads.

The vehicles were seized as part of the emirate’s campaign to deter stunt driving, which includes cars whose engines were modified to make loud noises

which the Ministry of Interior intends to implement in the coming months, the penalties for stunt driving will soon become costlier

The new traffic rules state that reckless driving will incur a fine of Dh2,000, 23 black points, and that the vehicle will be impounded for 60 days. The same punishment and fine will also be applied to drivers who endanger the lives of others.

Reckless driving will also apply to buggy drivers, who will receive a Dh3,000 fine and have their buggy impounded for three months. Drivers caught under the influence of alcohol or drugs will also have their license suspended for one year
