
Two moderate earthquakes rocked some parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Monday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The Institute was quoted by Philippines News Agency (PNA) as saying the first magnitude 3.2 quake occurred at 2:11 a.m. with its epicenter traced some 108 kilometers northeast of Mapanas in Northern Samar at a depth estimated at 117 kms. The second quake happened around 4:54 a.m., a magnitude 4.5 tremor, jolting Surigao del Norte with its epicenter located about 119 kilometers southeast of Burgos, at a depth of 63 kms. Phivolcs said the two earthquakes were tectonic in origin and no intensities reported. The agency further noted that no damages or casualties were reported and aftershocks are not expected as well.
