26 years in jail for Tanta officer, non-commissioned officer

Tanta Criminal Court sentenced officer Ahmed el Kafrawy and non-commissioned officer Ahmed Saleh to life in prison in absentia.

They got also another year in prison for torturing two citizens in Tanta police station, one of them died.

The citizens are Ismail Abdel Hamid and Yasser el Malah.

The two suspects were arrested for being involved in many cases, according to a security source in Gharbiya Security Directorate.

They were exposed to torture during the investigations resulting in the death of one of them while the other was injured.

A challenge will be filed against the verdict, the source noted.
