London - AFP
West Indies had it all to do at lunch on the second day of their second Test against New Zealand on Friday after the tourists netted three top order wickets, including the prized scalp of Chris Gayle. At the break, the hosts were 62 for 3 in their first innings, trailing by 198 runs after a hesitant start to their first innings saw Gayle - who top-scored with 150 in the first Test which the West Indies won by nine wickets, go for just eight from 58 balls. Gayle, recalled after 18 months out of the Test loop due to a standoff between himself and the West Indies officials over comments he made after a sponsorship row, fell to the bowling of Neil Wagner, who drew a top edge towards point that Bradley-John Watling caught with aplomb. Also heading back to the pavilion were Kieran Powell, caught by Dean Brownlie at third slip for just ten off the bowling of Trent Boult. Boult then trapped Fudadin lbw Assad Fudadin for five before Gayle also fell as the Black Caps showed they are hell-bent on plundering a win to level the series.
