Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie has left Slovan Liberec for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, signing a four-year deal with the Bundesliga side. The transfer of the 25-year-old Gebre Selassie, who made history as the first black player in the Czech national team last year, will be sealed after a medical at Werder. Gebre Selassie, who has been capped 14 times, has been one of the most impressive performers at UEFA EURO 2012 for the Czechs, who bowed out in Thursday's quarter-final, losing 1-0 to Portugal. "We are pleased that we were able to convince Theodor to come here despite a multitude of offers," Werder's general manager Klaus Allofs told the club's official website. "He is a very talented right-back who has made a good impression at the European Championship." Gebre Selassie said: "The decision to join Werder Bremen is definitely the right one. "Werder are a club with a lot of stability and tradition, they always set their goals very high. I want to follow up a successful season with Liberec by playing well for Bremen." FIFA .
