Valencia nets goal award

Antonio Valencia’s spectacular late game-breaker against Blackburn on 2 April has won ManUtd.com’s latest Goal of the Month award. The Ecuadorian winger hit a vicious shot from an acute angle in the 81st minute to help United to a 2-0 win at Ewood Park. The strike, which is also a Goal of the Season contender, picked up 38% of the votes for the monthly gong on our official websites, from a shortlist of 10 at all age levels. Two goals from the 4-4 draw with Everton came second and third: Danny Welbeck’s curler (25%) and Nani’s dink (11%) respectively. The winner of the Goal of the Season will be announced at United’s end-of-season awards dinner at Old Trafford on Monday 14 May.
