Before arriving in Japan to attend the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup and chair the FIFA Executive Committee's final meeting of the year, the FIFA President visited Doha, Qatar. There he made a speech at the Doha Goals forum where he focused on the social dimension of the game as well as the importance to have (and score!) goals in life. The visit of the FIFA President also included a meeting with H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, The Emir of Qatar. This was followed by a visit to the headquarters of the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, chaired by H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar's Heir Apparent. The Committee's Secretary General Hassan Al Thawadi offered a very comprehensive presentation of the current status of the preparations for hosting the FIFA World Cup™ a decade from now. "It was a pleasure to be in Doha and an honour to meet again HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, The Emir of Qatar," said the FIFA President. "I was impressed to see the level of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Our Qatari colleagues and friends are doing a very professional job." FIFA
