San Antonio - Arabstoday

Police and a defense lawyer are offering differing accounts of the status of a sexual assault case involving two University of Texas football players. A lawyer for Longhorns junior linebacker Jordan Hicks said a detective with the San Antonio police department told him no charges would be filed against Hicks or teammate Case McCoy after a 21-year-old woman said one of the two players sexually assaulted her in a hotel room while the other watched. San Antonio police, contacted by the San Antonio Express-News seeking to confirm the lawyer's assertion, said the matter was still under investigation. The allegations were made by a woman who said she met Hicks and McCoy at a San Antonio night club on Dec. 28, the night before the Alamo Bowl. The woman admitted she was drinking and invited them back to her hotel room, officials said. She told police she doesn't remember all of the night's events, but remembers being assaulted by one of the players -- police haven't said which -- while the other was present in the room, the newspaper said. Both Hicks and McCoy, younger brother of former Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy, were suspended from the team and did not play in the Alamo Bowl. Team officials have refused to say why Hicks and McCoy were suspended, except that they violated team rules. From : UPI
