London - AFP

Liverpool have Scotland international midfielder Charlie Adam to Stoke City for an undisclosed fee. Adam agreed a four-year contract with Tony Pulis's side after Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers told the former Rangers and Blackpool star he was free to leave Anfield. It is believed Stoke paid around £4 million to sign Adam, who could make his debut in Saturday's Premier League match against Wigan at the DW Stadium. The 26-year-old had fallen out of favour at Liverpool after Rodgers replaced Kenny Dalglish, who had signed the Scot at the start of last season, and he admitted the prospect of playing regularly at Stoke persuaded him to make the move. "The opportunity to play was getting less and I felt that at my age I wanted to play every week and hopefully I'll get a chance to here," Adam told Stoke's website. "It's a great club that is going in the right direction, the foundations are here. "They've been progressing ever since they've been in the Premier League and it's great to be part of it and hopefully we can have a successful time together." Stoke boss Pulis added: "It's no secret that we've been looking to bring more goals to the squad and Charlie is a fantastic signing in that respect. Not only will his creativity and his eye for delivering a pass be a great asset to us, he scored 12 goals for Blackpool in the Premier League two seasons ago."
