Schalke will be without midfielder Julian Draxler for up to four weeks after the 19-year-old needed an operation, having fractured his left arm in the UEFA Champions League 2-2 draw with Montpellier. "If everything goes well, then he will be out for three to four weeks," said Schalke team doctor Thorsten Rarreck. "I hope he can come back relatively quickly and can train with a protective cast." Having equalised at the Veltins Arena on Wednesday, Draxler was taken to hospital when he landed heavily on his lower arm after being felled in the area by Montpellier defender Garry Bocaly, who was sent off in the 52nd minute. Netherlands striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar rifled home the resulting penalty to put Schalke 2-1 up, before Montpellier equalised in the 90th minute. Having made his second appearance for Germany in the win over Faroe Islands last month, Draxler will now miss the FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers against Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 12 October and Sweden in Berlin on 16 October. He will also miss Schalke's Champions League trip to London to face Arsenal in their next Group B clash on October 24. From FIfa
