Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs, last season's NFL defensive player of the year, will miss at least six weeks of the season after a roster move Monday. The Ravens placed Suggs, 29, on the physically unable to perform list. That designation bars him from rejoining the Baltimore active roster for at least the first six weeks of the regular season. Suggs underwent Achilles tendon surgery on his right leg in May. The procedure was called a success but he hasn't been cleared to play. He has reportedly said he expects to play this season. Suggs had 14 sacks and 70 tackles last season. He forced seven fumbles and had two interceptions in the Ravens' 12-4 season. He has 82 1/2 sacks and seven interceptions since Baltimore drafted him with the 10th overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft. The Ravens also placed wide receiver David Reed on the PUP list while linebackers Stevie Baggs and Darryl Blackstock, safety Emanuel Cook and defensive tackle Ryan McBean were placed on injured reserve.
