PSV open with silverware

PSV beat Ajax 4-2 to win the Johan Cruijff Schaal Cup at the Amsterdam ArenA on Sunday. The Eredivisie champions were overpowered at their home ground by Dick Advocaat's side, who took the lead after just three minutes as Ola Toivonen headed home a Dries Mertens corner. It was the fastest goal in the competition's history and the Eindhoven side doubled their lead after 11 minutes. Ajax were back in the game a minute before the break when a Theo Janssen corner was headed home by centre-half Toby Alderweireld. However eight minutes into the second half PSV extended their two-goal advantage when, after he was played in by Jetro Willems, Toivonen powered his shot home from eight yards.
