Second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who was the 2007 league rookie-of-the-year, has agreed to a seven-year $100 million contract extension with the Boston Red Sox, MLB.com reported Tuesday. If it becomes official the long-term deal -- which also includes a no trade clause -- would lock up Pedroia through the 2021 season. Pedroia is batting .308 with six homers and 57 RBI through 100 games this year. He has a career batting average of .303 with 96 homers and 466 RBI. He was named top rookie after hitting .317 with eight homers and 50 RBI in his first full season in the league. The deal is expected to be officially announced after the player undergoes a medical which is expected to take place Wednesday. Source: AFP
