Seeded players Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Blaz Kavcic were ousted Monday in first-round action at the Bet-at-Home Cup tennis tournament in Austria. Jurgen Zopp had six service breaks in a 6-1, 6-3 win over Garcia-Lopez, who was seeded No. 6. Zopp claimed 59 percent of the points when Garcia-Lopez served. Antonio Veic ran past Kavcic, the eighth seed, 6-1, 6-2. Veic lost only 12 points over eight games on serve and posted breaks in four of his seven receiving games. Fifth-seeded Martin Klizan escaped the upset string with a tight 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 win over Dominic Thiem. Klizan lost his serve twice, including once in the third set. But he also had a pair of breaks in the decisive set in advancing. Attila Balazs defeated Martin Fischer 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2) and Filippo Volandri rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Alessandro Gianessi. The losses by Fischer and Thiem, both local wild-card entrants, leaves the field with two Austrians: Philipp Oswald earned a spot as a qualifier and Andreas Haider-Maurer was another wild card. They have their first-round matches Tuesday.
