Jorge Lorenzo heads into the third round of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship at Estoril with an eye on extending his advantage in the overall standings with another victory at one of his most successful venues. The Yamaha rider, who currently heads Casey Stoner in the overall standings by four points following a win and a second position at Losail and Jerez respectively, returns to the scene of his maiden MotoGP triumph in 2008 when he stunned the paddock by winning only his third-ever race. With victories following in 2009 and 2010, plus a second place finish in 2011, Estoril has been a happy hunting ground for Lorenzo in recent years, form he is keen to replicate this season as he strives to edge away from Stoner. “We go to Estoril now, a track which has seen very good results for me,” he said. “I have had some great victories here, and really enjoy the racing. I think we can be very strong in the race and as in Jerez I think the right tyres will be very important. “We are leading the Championship but the competition is very tough so we must give everything to try and stay in front. We also will test on Monday which will be important to continue to make the 1000cc M1 even better.”
