Richard Nieuwenhuizen, a linesman officiating at a youth amateur match in The Netherlands, was attacked by several young football players after the game and died from his injuries. In order to remember this tragedy and as a sign of respect towards his family, his friends and the football community in the country, FIFA has decided to observe a moment of silence during the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2012, which will take place today, 6 December at 19.45h in Yokohama between Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Auckland City FC.
