Sevilla defender Hedwiges Maduro, who was diagnosed with a heart condition in July, will be allowed to carry on playing after undergoing further tests. "He has undergone tests to check that his coronary arteries are working perfectly," Sevilla medical chief Jose Naranjo said in a press conference on Thursday. "As a result, we have the great news that he will be able to carry on playing and it will not constitute any danger for him." Maduro, 27, who has already returned to training by himself and should soon be able to rejoin his teammates, admitted his relief and said that he now looks upon life "in a different way." On Wednesday, midfielder Fabrice Muamba, of English Championship side Bolton Wanderers, announced his retirement on medical advice five months after collapsing and suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
