Kevin Pietersen and Mahela Jayawardene teamed up to steer the Delhi Daredevils to a comfortable eight-wicket home win over the Chennai Super Kings. Pietersen and Jayawardene put on 61 for the third wicket as Delhi reached 111 for two, in reply to 110 for eight, off just 13.2 overs. Pietersen continued the form which had seen him help England recover from one down to draw the Test series in Sri Lanka with 43 off 26 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Jayawardene hit 20 not out and there was also 33 from captain Virender Sehwag. Chennai had got off to a bad start when Murali Vijay was run out off the first ball after being sent back by Faf du Plessis. The Super Kings never really got their innings going and lost wickets at regular intervals, including four run-outs. Dwayne Bravo top-scored for Chennai with a sluggish 22 off 31 balls as Morne Morkel picked up two for 19, including the prize wicket of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for 11. Lakshmipathy Balaji took four wickets for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 42 runs. Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first, but struggled to oust opening batsmen Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir who scored 22 and 64 respectively and put on 60. Manvinder Bisla then added 46 runs to the tally to help the Knight Riders to 165 for eight in their 20 overs. A clinical Kolkata bowling display made it nigh on impossible for the Bangalore top order to score highly in their reply and Daniel Vettori, at number seven, was the first batsman in the team to reach 20. Vinay Kumar added 25 but the pair's efforts were not enough to stave off an emphatic defeat. Balaji shone for the Knight Riders, bowling out both AB de Villiers and Vettori and having Virat Kohli and Mayank Agarwal caught to earn superb figures of four for 18. Jacques Kallis added two for seven in two overs as Bangalore limped to 123 for nine, and knew they were beaten long before the end of the innings.
