Korea Republic have bounced back into contention at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Japan 2012 with a 2-0 win over Italy. Following on from defeat against Nigeria in their opener, the Koreans bagged two goals in as many minutes early in the second half through Lee Geummin and Jeoun Eunha to move second in the group on three points. Italy played cautiously in the opening half with the east Asians still managing to create several openings, with Choe Yuri and Lee Sodam both denied by goalkeeper Laura Giuliani. Korea Republic broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second stanza as Geummin managed to slot home after a long ball caught out the Italian defence. Eunha doubled the advantage almost immediately as a beautiful long ball from defense found the attacker well placed to coolly slot home. Korea continued to control the match and could have won by a larger margin only for Giuliani to again deny Geummin. Korea Republic will face Brazil in a pivotal match on the final day of Group B action, while the Azzurrine need to defeat Nigeria to maintain their hopes. From : Fifa
