The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) said on Tuesday that it will appeal against the sanction imposed by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee. The MLSZ said in a statement on its website that it will appeal for a fairer decision after receiving the official decision from FIFA. The sanction is excessive and unfair, the statement said. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday notified the MLSZ of a sanction imposed at the meeting of the committee. The committee sanctioned Hungary to play a World Cup qualifier against Romania without spectators on March 22. It also decided to impose a fine of CHF (Swiss francs) 40,000 on the MLSZ. Following a friendly match between Hungary and Israel, played on 15 August 2012 in Budapest, FIFA was informed that a group of Hungarian supporters had chanted anti-Semitic chants, and displayed other offensive symbols. Following an extensive investigation, the members of the Disciplinary Committee were unanimous in condemning an abhorrent episode of racism, anti-Semitism, and of political provocative and aggressive nature perpetrated by supporters of the Hungarian national team.
