Gremio close in on Atletico

Atletico Mineiro's advantage at the Brazilian Campeonato summit was cut to one point on Wednesday night as they were held to a goalless draw at Bahia while Gremio edged bottom-of-the-table Atletico Goianiense 2-1 to climb to second. Finally, Portuguesa capitalised on the fifth-minute dismissal of Coritiba wing-back Sergio Escudero to overcome the visitors 3-0.
