London - Arabstoday
FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter paid a courtesy visit to Pele on Friday. The legendary former footballer and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ ambassador is currently recovering well from a hip surgery and is unable to attend the draw of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Sao Paulo on Saturday. "It is always very special to meet Pele the king and discuss football with him,” said President Blatter. “I will be ready for the FIFA Confederations Cup!” joked Pelé about the prospect of pulling on the famous canary-yellow jersey once again as he welcomed the FIFA President at his home in Sao Paulo. Blatter updated Pele on Brazil’s preparations for the FIFA Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup. “At this moment, Scolari is the best choice for Brazil," explained Pele on his country’s re-appointment of their Korea/Japan 2002-winning coach. Pele exploded on to the global stage by propelling A Seleção to glory at Sweden 1958. He explained: “I started to promote Brazil in Sweden. In 1958, nobody knew where Brazil was – through football Brazil has become known.” To conclude the visit, Blatter presented Pele with a special memorabilia. The former Santos and New York Cosmos star concluded: “My heart will be at the [FIFA Confederations Cup] draw.” From : Fifa
