Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre had a smile on his face again following his side's 2-0 win over Marseille in the UEFA Europa League, forgetting about his side's Bundesliga woes for a night. A 5-0 defeat against Werder Bremen last weekend was the lowest point of the season so far for the Foals, but Thursday's performance and result suggest that things could again be looking up for the side who finished fourth last season. "I am pleased with the team," said Favre at the post-match press conference. "It was a deserved 2-0 win and it is good for our minds. This game has given us self-confidence." For the first half-hour, Gladbach struggled to break out of their own half and only some good defending kept them in the game against a boisterous Marseille side. "Our opening goal then played into our hands," said Favre. "That gave us confidence. It is not easy to beat Marseille. I think we can still improve.
